Should I give up or just should I just keep chasing pavement, even if it leads nowhere

If you looked at my previous post, you can probably tell that I'm obsessed with the song. I just can't stop stressing to myself how many people might think this exact same way. We know that we're in love but also the sad fact that we'll only be chasing pavement in the end. Our decision is stressful: whether to trust our gut and blindly follow the one we'll never have or try to deal with the unbearable pain to come in the end. In conclusion, isn't that what it all filters down to?

Word of the day: Pretext
A flimsy excuse or improper reason offered to hide reality.
Example:
We knew her intentions and didn't believe her pretext for leaving.

I see infinite uses for this word.

How can everything you build up be lost so easily? Trust that takes years to amass can be swiped in a matter of seconds, a building that takes so much time and money can be eradicated by a single hurricane, a reputation can be construed in a snap. Although I wish this wasn't the case, I feel like everyone needs to have their facades up at all times. When for a single second we let ourselves vulnerable, the right catastrophe is ready to strike. Watch out!

And just for clarification: OBAMA 08
